Also known as coining or scraping, this technique is used commonly in Asia for
treating the cold and flu. It can also be used for other conditions such as shoulder and back
pain. Gua-sha is scraping the skin with a round edged tool after medicated oil has been
applied to the site. It is surprisingly comfortable and often feels like a strong massage.
Afterwards, the patient will often feel light on their feet and invigorated, as though a
weight had been taken off of their shoulders. |
